Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Unclaimed money disproportionately belongs to older people, and older people disproportionately rely on assistive technology. So accessibility isn't a checkbox for WorthBack- it's the product working for the people it's for. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

What we've built in

  • Screen reader support:semantic landmarks on every page, labeled form fields with visible hint text, descriptive link text ("Search unclaimed pensions", never "click here"), and ARIA live regions that announce saves, errors, and status changes. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Full keyboard access:everything works without a mouse. A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page, and a high-visibility focus outline tracks your position.
  • Color and contrast: all text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios, and no status is conveyed by color alone - claim statuses pair color with plain words.
  • Plain language: claim guides are written at a general reading level, step by step, with no legal or financial jargon left unexplained.
  • Touch targets: interactive controls are at least 44x44 pixels.
  • Motion sensitivity:animation is disabled automatically when your system's "reduce motion" setting is on.
  • Zoom and reflow: layouts reflow at 200% zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling or loss of function.

Known limitations

  • Searches happen on government websites (PBGC, MissingMoney, TreasuryDirect, and others) whose accessibility we don't control. Our claim guides describe what each search asks for, so you know what to expect before you land there.
  • Checkout and billing run on Stripe's hosted pages, which publish their own accessibility documentation.

Found a barrier? Tell us.

If any part of WorthBack is hard or impossible for you to use with assistive technology, email support@worthback.app with the page and what happened. Accessibility reports go to the front of the bug queue and we aim to respond within 2 business days.

How we test

Pages are checked against WCAG 2.1 AA using keyboard-only navigation, automated audits, and color-contrast validation, re-reviewed whenever a page changes materially. This statement is updated with each review.
